Opening session
The opening session on 23 October will take place in the Yakult Zaal of the historic Beurs van Berlage, built between 1898 and 1903 as Amsterdam's Exchange.The Beurs van Berlage is located a three minute walk from Central Station.

Conference venue
The Philip Kohnstammhuis, home to the Amsterdam School of Education, will be the conference venue. The building is located at a few minutes walking distance from metro station Weesperplein.

Social dinner
The ATEE 2005 social dinner on 25 October will be floating: it will take place aboard the Prins van Oranje . This historical boat transported passengers between Amsterdam and Alkmaar from 1908 until 1950. During your dinner, you will be able to see the typical watery landscape to the north of Amsterdam. The floating dinner will be catered by Verhaaf, one of the leading caterers in The Netherlands. You can book tickets (€ 60 each) when registering for the conference. The boat will leave from the pier behind Centraal Station.

The easiest and cheapest way to reach the city centre from Schiphol Airport is to take the train to Amsterdam Central Station.The ride takes ca. 20 minutes. Tickets can be bought from machines and counters at Schiphol Plaza.
Within the city, metro and trams are the most frequently used means of public transport. You can buy ‘strippenkaarten' at the machines in metro stations or from tobacco shops. Tickets for 24, 48 and 72 hours are also available.
If you want to do like the locals do you may consider renting a bicycle. |
